Things that Motivate Interest in Young Companies

Jizz, I need to go out more. Read less stuff on the Internet and just concentrate on my work and on getting things done.

Want a good advice on how to get things done? Turn off your Internet.

    That said,..

“In my experience, these are the things that motivate me to take interest in young or “pre-profitable” companies:

    * Small, talented teams where each member can do “a little of everything”. Essentially entrepreneurs where the team are more “doers” than “managers”.
    * Talented engineers that are great product people. These people blow me away.
    * A feature (which is often the whole product of the company), that combined with one of our products, can immediately increase usage and revenue for both entities.
    * A product with tremendous growth potential in need of resources and a business team to increase revenue.
    * Users: You need them, and they need to LOVE your product.
    * A team who sees combining with our company as the best path to achieving their bigger company, personal or product goals.

Trust me, it is hard to fake these traits. Eventually your flip strategy will be seen through, and it will either blow up the deal or significantly decrease the value of your company in the eyes of the acquirer.”

    We Are Virginia Tech

“We are better than we think and not quite what we want to be. We are alive to the imaginations and the possibilities. We will continue to invent the future through our blood and tears and through all our sadness. ”

This is an inspiring video than I always go back to..

    First steps in iMovie Editing

A couple of weeks ago we went to Heidelberg for a Stag night. Me and Rory took our video cameras with us and did about 3 hours of footage. Last week Me, Rory and Joerg got together again to edit a video about it. After 3 nights, a lot of beer and “vinho verde” the result is this.. I think it’s pretty good :-)

    Where are you heading?

I have a friend named John. I hope he doesn’t mind if I write here what I think is happening with him.

I think he is very demotivated, partly because he isn’t enjoying his work and also because he is going through a complicated phase. He seems himself being at a pretty dull phase of his life. Work is boredom; tedious; uninteresting. He doesn’t have the energy to carry it out.

Outside work he does appreciate life, especially when he gets together with his friends and the girlfriend he loves. But he doesn’t have any plans or anything to look forward in the next months/years and especially he feels a bit imprisoned where he is now.

I think he is going through a rough time. He used to do a lot of sports and be very energetic and zen but nowadays he isn’t practising anything any more and he feels himself being dragged down, more and more.

John: I want you to know I’m not going to let you go down friend. Life is the most wonderful bliss someone can have and although all the beings out there are trying to influence you, there is a light that will guide you if you search for it.
