nanotechnology

(creation of devices at the molecular scale) Field of applied science and technology focused on controlling and exploiting the structure of matter on a scale below 100 nanometers, being one nanometer (abbreviated nm, like my name which is funny) one billionth, or 10^(-9) of a meter.
Back in 1959, physicist Richard Feynman gave a talk “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom” (on-line version) where he covered a small area of the basic idea that has got most nanotech researchers hooked, the possibility to do something on a very small scale.
Aplications
What are the applications of nanotech? Well, first you have to think where does the possibility of doing something on a very small scale matters, and then you find that its almost everywhere. Some examples include small robots that can be injected into a person’s blood stream and cure diseases or do drug administration.
